This feature enables users to manually pair their VVX business media phone with their computer using the Polycom Better Together over Ethernet Connector application.
- Certain features and behaviors that are available to Skype for Business Mac clients are determined by preference settings on the client. You can standardize the settings for Skype for Business Mac in your organization by configuring preferences for the application and then deploying these preferences to users on the network.

You can pair and unpair the VVX business media phone with the BToE application installed in a Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. For more information, see Polycom® Better Together over Ethernet Connector 3.7.0 Release Notes available on Polycom Support. |
When you enable this feature users can select Auto or Manual pairing mode in the Web Configuration Utility or in the Administrator Settings menu on the phone. However, the manual pairing feature no longer requires you to connect the Ethernet cable from your computer to the PC port on your phone. By default, BToE and BToE pairing are enabled for phones registered with Skype for Business. When an administrator disables BToE pairing, users cannot pair their VVX phone with their computer using BToE. When the phone is set to manually pair with your computer connected to a reachable network, the phone generates a pairing code that users must enter into the Polycom BToE Connector application to pair.
To use the Manual Pairing feature, users must update to UC Software version supported to the corresponding BToE Connector application version. The following table lists the supported UC Software version for the corresponding BToE Connector application for Manual Pairing
Skype For Business For Mac

BToE Widget
By default, users can access BToE settings from the phone menu at Settings > Features > BToE. You can configure a BToE widget to display on the phone’s Home screen that allows direct user access to BToE settings. Enabling the BToE widget does not remove access via the phone menu.

I'm getting a Skype error message 'We're having trouble connecting to the server. If this continues, contact your support team.' Somedays I do not get the message. Other days I get the message every 19 minutes or so for hours on end. I started getting these messages after a Skype update about a month or so ago but I don't recall the build when the problem started. Before that, Skype for Business Mac worked for a couple months error free.
Well, I contacted my support team and was told 'Buy a PC, We don't support Mac.' So much for the Workplace support team.

So I'm on my own and looking for input. The error log sfbmac.log shows that there is some server timeout but really I don't know how to read it. Messages like this repeated over and over '2017-04-01 23:12:46.057 000070000df3e000 ERROR UTILITIES CHttpConnection.mm:377 Connection timeout for request (EventsRequest)' and '2017-04-01 23:12:46.064 00007fff982be3c0 INFO TRANSPORT CEventChannelManager.cpp:627 Handling error E_ConnectionTimeoutError (E2-2-5) '
Its odd because I don't not always get the error so I guess it does not always timeout. Is this my primary Skype for Business connection server? My org has other servers I could try but Skype for Business Mac will not let me enter names. It seems the syntax is invalid and Skype for Business Mac requires something special for manual server incoming and outgoing.
Things tried - changing DNS server, Turning Apple Firewall off, logging out, deleting all login files and keys and logging back in.
Also, I did a clean install when Skype for Business came out - deleteing all traces of Lync 2011.
Anyone experienced this? Any help is appreciated. Did I post in the right spot or is there a Skype for Business Mac area I haven't found.
Thanks for your attention.

Someone at Microsoft Community marked this issue solved, but it is not solved as of this writing. In here you may find some good things to try to solve your situation but for me, there has been no solution proposed other than to not use Microsoft's third party partner's servers. Which is exactly the answer the my 3rd Party Solution Microsoft Partner said I would get before I started. I guess knowledge of the setup of third party servers is a pretty unique thing at Microsoft. Though I do appreciate Lance, Venessa, Chris and the others giving us the troubleshooting to rule out other possibilities.
In any case, I think we pretty clearly have a Mac client bug here. And can only guess Microsoft marked it closed because none of the 'user must have done something wrong' approaches to solutions are working. Only time and other users noting the issue will lead Microsoft to address the issue eventually. If you experience this problem, please report it via the Skype for Business Mac Help Menu Bar item > Report an Issue - link. It may help to include a link to this forum thread when reporting the issue. Best of luck finding your solution.
